The Beginning of the Journey

Question: Julia, please tell us how you entered the modeling industry and became the director of a modeling school?

Julia Ilgaz: My journey into the modeling industry began when I was 18 years old, when I participated in a beauty contest called Miss Oil & Gas, which took place at the university where I was studying.

After the competition, I joined the fashion theatre “Atelier”. I participated in various fashion shows and photoshoots for magazines and advertising campaigns.

Later, I received an offer to work in China, and it was abroad where I gained significant experience in the modeling industry.

After several years, I realized that I wanted to share my experience and knowledge with others and help young talents discover their potential.

That’s how the idea of creating my own modeling school was born — a place where we could train future fashion stars, and where I could pass on my knowledge and help young talents grow.

Based on my professional modeling experience, I developed my own training program that includes more than 16 disciplines necessary for the full development of a professional model.

The Work of the Modeling School

Question: What do you consider the most important aspect of training models in your school?

Julia Ilgaz: The most important thing is a comprehensive approach. We not only teach runway walking and posing, but we also develop skills in self-presentation, confidence, and working in front of the camera.

An equally important aspect is attention to physical fitness and mental well-being, because a model’s work requires endurance and resilience.

Advice for Beginner Models

Question: What would you advise those who are just starting their journey in the modeling industry?

Julia Ilgaz: Don’t be afraid to start and don’t give up after the first setbacks. Believe in yourself and continuously work on improving your skills.

Question: What qualities do you consider the most important for a successful model?

A model should be able to work in a team, remain open to new experiences, and not be afraid to express individuality.

Question: How do you see the future of the modeling business?

Julia Ilgaz: The modeling industry is constantly evolving. Today, we see greater diversity and inclusivity in fashion, which is a very positive direction.

I believe that in the future we will see even more models of different types, ages, and cultural backgrounds. It is important to stay flexible and open to change, because fashion always reflects society.
